~ Membership at NZC ~

Everyone is welcome to participate in practice offerings at the Nebraska Zen Center. If you find that you are meditating and attending programs at NZC regularly, we encourage you to make NZC your spiritual home by becoming a member and supporting the practice, the teachers, and the sangha with regular financial contributions.

Membership dues are a primary source of income for NZC. And, they are an important way for you to formally express your connection to this community, affirming your desire to reduce suffering and to wake up. If you appreciate the difference that NZC has made in your life, and the broader significance of inclusive communities like ours that are dedicated to living a meaningful life, please join us. It takes many hearts and hands to develop a thriving practice place, devoted to wisdom, compassion and harmonious living.

We have several membership levels intended to give you a clear path for contributions that reflect your priorities and financial responsibilities, while at the same time helping to make NZC a viable organization.

C
onsider what the NZC practice community means to you and if one of the membership plans detailed below is in alignment. If so, please make a commitment to membership by completing a Membership Form (see the .pdf attachment at the bottom left of this page, or pick one up at the center). We accept applications on an on-going basis, and you may submit your completed form to us by mail, as an email attachment, or by placing it in the dana bowl.

The membership levels are:

1.  Supporting: Members give $108 or more a month. No additional contributions are required for daily zazen or Open Zen. Classes, sesshin and retreats are available to supporting members at a 25% reduction in the standard fee.

2.  Sustaining: Members give $75 or more a month. No additional contributions are required for daily zazen or Open Zen. Classes, sesshin and retreats are available to sustaining members at a 10% reduction in the standard fee.

3. Basic: Members give $40 or more per month. No additional contributions are required for daily zazen or Open Zen.

4. Limited Income (student/senior/retired/unemployed):
Members choose a monthly contribution amount that works with their fixed income.

NZC is a non-profit 501c3 tax exempt organization registered with the IRS, and membership dues are fully tax-deductible.

FYI, the average American gives about 3% of gross annual income to their church. At this rate, the Supporting Student contribution of $108 per month would reflect an income of just over $40,000 and the Sustaining Member contribution of $75 would reflect an income of just over $30,000.
